The Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center (AREREC) is a state of the art, comprehensive research and education facility designed to support Alabama's real estate community and economic development efforts throughout the state of Alabama. Housed in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at The University of Alabama, AREREC serves as a clearinghouse for real estate expertise and a depository for local, state, and national data that can be used in the development of feasibility studies, market area analyses, industrial location, economic impact studies, and site selection proposals. The Center regularly conducts policy-oriented research and assists local governments, chambers of commerce, and other entities involved in community planning and development projects.
AREREC calculates the Alabama Housing Affordability Index for the state it's Metropolitan Areas, and five selected counties. The indices and accompanying analyses are published quarterly. The Center also a produces a monthly housing statistics report generated from information supplied by local realtor associations throughout
the state.
The Center's full-time staff members and research associates hold bachelors, masters, and doctorates in the fields of economics, planning, finance, marketing, and geography. The staff hold memberships in such organizations as the Urban Land Institute, the American Planning Association, the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, the Economic Development Association of Alabama, the American Real Estate Society, and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

1. Risk Management- Provides the essentials of risk management that every sales professional must know to avoid legal problems and give their clients the best service possible. Meets mandatory 3 hour risk management requirement.
2. Alabama ADA & Fair Housing- Find out what the laws cover and how it pertains to you, while refreshing your knowledge of the Federal Fair Housing Laws.
3. Ethics in Real Estate- Covers the NAR Code of Ethics and reviews case studies pertaining to the code.
4. Tax Advantages of Home Ownership- Covers tax benefits for homeowners and how to calculate the taxes that impact the purchase of a home.
Basic Real Estate Finance. Covers basic principles of real estate finance. Topics include financing instruments, promissory notes, mortgages, assumptions, priority of loans, foreclosures, trust deeds, types of loans, sources of funds, loan practices and closing costs.
